This is that part of my story
If my life was a story, we would be at that part where the protagonist experiences a series of events that might reshape his life and send his tale into another trajectory.
Like a battle-hardened man calling time on his past adventures to set forth on new ones, the past couple of months have seen me draw the curtains on some ambitious projects and also the Awesome Anything studio in order to bravely walk the path as a full-time lecturer at Temasek polytechnic’s design school. In the same period, the research consultancy arm of Fivefootway was set up and with it, I was appointed Festival Director of Archifest, Singapore’s annual architecture festival.
This new chapter of my professional life is exciting and terrifying at the same time and as I type these words, the immensity of the new opportunites and responsibilities that lie before me is still slowly sinking into comprehension. The determination to succeed is strong and it is the confidence and support that my families of blood and choice has shown me that feeds my soul on this journey.
I recently also dug into my memories to look at my self of 3 years ago and there were no hints that this was where I was going to be but somehow by choosing to practice my gratitude, work on my attitude and get out of my own way, it has seemed that life has unfolded pretty darn well.
Along with my gratitude for this abundance of opportunities to make things, I am in gratitude for the opportunity to give and receive love once more. Unexpectedly, I found the sun that fell from its place between the morning clouds and just as unexpectedly, I now find myself spending time with the sunshine in my arms. Not a moment have passed where I am not grateful for her and I wish that I can continue to wake up every day with the opportunity to write love on her heart.
This story is still being written but I think this is the part of the story where everything starts to make sense. I am grateful.
